Have you ever heard of eyebrow stencils? They are stencils in the shape of the "perfect" eyebrow. As a rule, one package of reusable eyebrow stencils contain a few different shapes. Adhesive-backed eyebrow stencils seem to be the stencil of choice.

How to use eyebrow stencils -

1. When laying out an eyebrow stencil, first begin by matching the arch of the stencil to your own eyebrow arch.
2. Using your darker eyebrow pencil, sketch in the thickest part of the eyebrow all the way to the arch.
3. Upon reaching the arch, switch to a lighter eyebrow pencil (a pencil two shades lighter than your daker pencil) to finish the "tail".
   

Note: Some stencils have a line down the center part of the stencil. This is an arch line guide to tell you where your arch should be in the scheme of things.

Pencil Eyeliner Tip too Hard

Lately, I've noticed that my pencil eyeliner tip is too hard to glide on smoothly; but I understand also that as they age that they do harden. However, I found a quick solution for my problem. I ran the tip of my eyeliner pencil under hot water for about 30 seconds and the water softened the tip. The pencil eyeliner went on smoother than when it was new! Depending on how hot your water is will determine how long you need to keep the pencil under hot running water - but I feel this eyeliner tip is a keeper.

Eyebrow Pencil Color for Grey Hair Women

Is your hair grey and you don't know what eyebrow pencil color you should use? Don't feel alone, this is a common question. Here are a few beauty tips to help you with your decision:

• We suggest using a soft taupe eyebrow pencil or soft taupe eyebrow powder on your eyebrows. Soft taupe looks more natural with grey hair.
• Avoid colors with even the slightest hint of red; they will look unnatural.
  
• When you apply your eyebrow color, use two shades. The darker color for the thicker part of the brow and a shade or two lighter for the thinner part of the brow.

If your color in (or on) your eyebrows too dark, it could make you look too harsh and unfriendly.

Eyes Look Refreshed and Younger in 30 Seconds

As we age, the skin around our eyes seems to darken, making us look older, but you can make your eyes look refreshed and younger in thirty-seconds with this easy eye tip.

After washing all the makeup from your eyes with eye makeup remover, apply a thin layer of yellow-based concealer from the lash line to the brow. Be sure to cover the dark area at the tip of the eye that rests next to the nose. It is important to not over-apply too much concealer, but don't under-apply either.

After the concealer has dried, dust your face with mineral powder foundation, including covering over the concealer. Again, don't go too heavy on the eyes.

A dusting of brown eyeshadow to the outer half of the eyelid up to the crease and a very thin line of eyeliner (and of course don't forget the mascara) and your eyes are ready for the day. Toss in blush and a natural colored gloss or lipstick and people will be wondering what you've done to look so refreshed.

Using Darker Foundation For Eyeshadow

One thing I have learned writing for DJ's Beauty and Beyond is that makeup can be used for other things than what they are labeled for purchase.

For example:

If you have foundation in your makeup bag that is a few shades too dark for your complexion, instead of tossing it out, use it on your eyelids for color in place of eyeshadow for a quick natural look.

To color your lips, cover the lips with clear lip gloss, and then gently sweep dry blush over the lip gloss.

To add color to your cheeks, mix a little clear lip gloss and a swipe of lipstick in the palm of your hand and dab this mixture on your cheeks.

Color Your Eyebrows with Eyeshadow

Instead of using pencil or gel eyebrow liner to make your eyebrows look fuller, or to simply fill in a few gaps, try using matte eyeshadow instead of gel or pencil liners.

To apply eyeshadow to the brows, dip a stiff angled brush, or the narrow side of a small sponge applicator, into dry eyeshadow. Brush the eyeshadow onto the skin beneath the hairs of the brow. You only need a small amount of eyeshadow to start - less is best, you can always build.

Brush and shape eyebrows with an eyebrow brush or comb.

To add the finishing touch, apply clear eyebrow gel.

Curling Eyelashes

Zip - Zap! You are done...well not quite. To curl your eyelashes it takes about 15 seconds per eye.

First start at the rootline with your eyelash curler. Hold the curler closed for five seconds. Then move the curler to the mid point of your lashes. Hold again for five seconds. Finally, at the ends of the lashes, hold the curler closed for another five seconds.

Follow immediately with mascara.

To add more drama to the eyes, line above the lashline with your favorite eyeliner pencil, and then line the upper rim under the lashline with pencil eyeliner. This technique works exceptionally well on women with dark colored eyes.

1. Over the lid to the crease of the eye, apply a light cream color eyeshadow;


2. Along the crease of the eye, sweep just a hint of brown, plum, or grey;


3. Line the lower rim of the eye with white eyeliner;


4. From the outer edge of the lower lashline, moving inward to the iris of the eye, line the eye with light brown eyeliner;


5. Curl your lashes starting as close to the root line as possible;


6. Finish your look with dark brown or black mascara. Don't over apply mascara. If you use too much, it may clump and mess up your look.

Use mascara as an eyeliner

If you want to exactly match the color of your eyeliner to the color of your mascara; or you discover you have used up your last bit of eyeliner, then load an angled eyeliner brush with your favorite mascara and apply it as you would any liquid eyeliner.

Tip: To load the eyeliner brush: Transfer mascara to the eyeliner brush by sweeping the eyeliner brush against the loaded mascara wand.

It caught my attention.. Wow! 4X Brighter Eyes with MASCARA...

Wow! 4X Brighter Eyes...EYE BRIGHTENING MASCARA! Ok, I had to stop and read the package. "exact eyelights Eye Brightening Mascara".

I must admit I get pretty excited with the new makeup and beauty goodies coming out on the market. A heated eyelash curler is on the top of my wish list, but I was intrigued with this new mascara and had to buy it, even though I have a new tube of mascara. I wondered? How can mascara brighten my eyes? This is how according to Covergirl...

"With light reflecting metallics, color-enhancing microbeads and a hint of tint"....

The packaging includes simple instructions to help achieve the "bright eye" look. They are basically the same instructions I have given before, and are worth mentioning again. The only difference is their special mascara.

1. Line the top and bottom of your lids with dark eyeliner pencil and smudge the line with either a smudge brush or sponge eyeshadow applicator;

2. Brush a light color (cream works well) eyeshadow from the lash-line to the brow, including the inner corners of the eye to highlight the eyes;

3. Brush a medium eyeshadow color on the lids;

4. Brush a darker eyeshadow color along the crease of the eye.

5. "Finish with 2-3 coats of exact eyelights eye brightening mascara."


My review about Covergirl Exact Eyelights Eye Brightening Mascara:

1. I love the brush applicator. It separates the lashes nicely.

2. I did't notice any sparkle on the lashes, but with the metallics in the mascara, it probably does catch the light - but I couldn't see it.

3. It did not burn my eyes as do some mascaras.

4. I rate their package marketing fantastic! It caught my eye and enticed me to purchase the product.

5. Priced was under $10.

So many people have seen white eyeliner in stores, but never bought it because they didn't know how to use it. They assume that it isn't used like normal cosmetic eyeliner because of its unconventional color. In reality, white eyeliner can be used in many interesting ways.

If you want to take advantage of this beautiful eyeliner, then you'll benefit from these tips:

Line your eyes like you normally would. Just like black, brown or grey eyeliners, you can use white eyeliner to highlight your eye on both the top and bottom lid. This does give a very noticeable cosmetic look though, so this is best left for the brave.

For brighter, larger eyes, line just the bottom lid. When you're doing your regular makeup look, even with black eyeliner on the top lid, add a bit of white to the inside of your lower lid. This will be barely noticeable and will give your eyes a bit of a pop.

Layer eyeliners for an interesting effect. You can create a new look by first lining your eyes with thick white eyeliner and then going over it in a thinner, darker color, such as black or blue. This brightens your eye while still keeping your look relatively normal and safe for work.

Change your white eyeliner to a different shade with eye shadow. All you do is dust a bit of a different, bright eye shadow color over your white eyeliner. Then brush your lid with a clean round brush. The shadow on the lid will lighten, but your old white eyeliner will now be tinted whatever color you added. This means you can have any color eyeliner as long as you have white and multiple shades of shadow.

For added eye brightening and highlighting, apply white eyeliner to the inner corner of your eye. Lining the top and bottom lid from the inner corner of your eye out until about a half a centimeter will add some real punch to your eyes without changing your look too much. Your eyes will look brighter and you'll seem more awake and ready to go.

With these techniques, you should be able to use white colored eyeliner like a pro. Not only will you get good makeup looks, but you'll also have some neat ways to make your eyes look bigger and brighter.

* Replace mascara every 3 to 4 months. Mascara dries out over time, flakes and cradles bacteria in its dark and wet environment.

* To prevent mascara from smudging under the eye, dust under the eyes with a light coating of translucent powder. Natural oils and perspiration coming from the skin attract mascara, causing it to smudge.

* If you poke yourself in the eye with your brush (a rare person can only say they haven't done this!) pay extra attention to the eye for a few days for infection. If you do suspect an infection, immediately consult a physician.

* Never use another person's mascara. It's an avenue for infection. If you must, however, clean the brush first and dip it in alcohol to sterilize it the best you can. They could have an eye infection they are not yet aware of such as pink-eye...
