Have you ever heard of eyebrow stencils? They are stencils in the shape of the "perfect" eyebrow. As a rule, one package of reusable eyebrow stencils contain a few different shapes. Adhesive-backed eyebrow stencils seem to be the stencil of choice.

How to use eyebrow stencils -

1. When laying out an eyebrow stencil, first begin by matching the arch of the stencil to your own eyebrow arch.
2. Using your darker eyebrow pencil, sketch in the thickest part of the eyebrow all the way to the arch.
3. Upon reaching the arch, switch to a lighter eyebrow pencil (a pencil two shades lighter than your daker pencil) to finish the "tail".
   

Note: Some stencils have a line down the center part of the stencil. This is an arch line guide to tell you where your arch should be in the scheme of things.

Shaping Eyebrows with Scissors

When shaping the top of your eyebrows with scissors; first brush the hairs of your eyebrows straight up (damping them first helps). Then, hold the eyebrow scissors with the curved blades facing down and carefully trim and shape the top of your eyebrows.

Eyebrow Pencil Color for Grey Hair Women

Is your hair grey and you don't know what eyebrow pencil color you should use? Don't feel alone, this is a common question. Here are a few beauty tips to help you with your decision:

• We suggest using a soft taupe eyebrow pencil or soft taupe eyebrow powder on your eyebrows. Soft taupe looks more natural with grey hair.
• Avoid colors with even the slightest hint of red; they will look unnatural.
  
• When you apply your eyebrow color, use two shades. The darker color for the thicker part of the brow and a shade or two lighter for the thinner part of the brow.

If your color in (or on) your eyebrows too dark, it could make you look too harsh and unfriendly.

Using two colors of eyebrow pencils for a natural look..

1. Choose two shades of eyebrow pencil, one close to the color of your hair, and another a shade or two lighter.
2. Use the darker pencil to make short light strokes from the beginning of the brow to the arch.
3. After the arch, switch to your lighter pencil. With soft strokes, finish the ends of the brow.
4. To complete the look, brush the brows with a brow brush to soften noticeable pencil lines.

Powder Eyebrow Makeup

To make your existing eyebrows appear fuller, use eyebrow powder. It's easier to use and looks more natural than pencil. You must have eyebrows for the powder to adhere. Use an eyebrow brush and apply lightly.

I've seen so many women who have lost their eyebrows, draw on eyebrows the shape of a half-circle. Unfortunately, this brings the eyes down, makes them look older, and it's not the natural form of the brow.

If you can't find your eyebrow pencil, but need a touch of color on your eyebrows, in a pinch, use mascara that matches the color of your eyebrows.

First, apply a small amount of mascara on your eyebrows then comb the brows into shape. Use a very light touch or you could end up with a mess. If your brows are blonde or thin, I'd pass on this tip.

Many women have a difficult time finding the right eyebrow pencil color. Here's a simple guideline to use when picking the right eyebrow pencil color.

* When choosing an eyebrow liner pencil, choose your color based on the color of the hair on your head, except.....

* If your hair is grey and your skin tone is ivory or beige, try a soft blonde or taupe eyebrow pencil. Grey on grey will wash you out.

* If your hair is grey and your skin tone is darker brown, try a brown eyebrow liner.

Eyebrow Grooming

First impressions are important. If your eyebrows are thick and untrimmed, others may perceive you as angry or sad and a person to avoid.

If too arched, you could look as if you are walking around surprised all the time.

When properly trimmed, others may perceive you as a happy and confident person - one who is approachable!

To prove the point, think about facial expressions: When we are angry or sad, we lower our brow; when happy, surprised or excited, we raise them.

Mapping your eyebrows for tweezing

Use a small ruler (I like a ruler because it is flat), or pencil for measuring, and an eyeliner pencil for marking. Begin with the right eye.

Hold the ruler along the outside edge of your nostril's opening in a north - south direction. Mark your brow with an eyeliner pencil on the left edge of the ruler. This is where you will begin tweezing.

Second, angle the ruler from the inner edge of your nostril's opening to the to the middle of your eye's iris. Make a line on your brow using the left side of the ruler as your guide. This is your arch area.

Finally, angle the ruler from the outside area of your nostril (the fleshy part of the nose) to the right side edge of your eye. Make a line. This is where the brow should end.

Repeat with the left eye.

Begin by removing the hair between your brows, then use your markings as your guide.

When tweezing, only pull a few hairs at a time, step back and look. Occasionally, hair will not grow back, so be careful and do not over-tweeze.
