Exfoliate Before Applying Self Tanning Lotions

Self tanning lotions chemically react to your skin, including dead skin cells, to give you that radiant glow without the sun.

Before applying a self tanning lotion for the first time, gently exfoliate your skin with a microdermabrasion formulated for the face and another formulated for the body. After exfoliation, cleanse the skin with a mild body wash to remove any leftover residue. When you exfoliate, you will be "tanning" fewer skin cells that are ready to flake off and tanning more of the fresh skin.

Do not get carried away preparing the skin. If you irritate it, you will need to wait until your skin clears to apply your self-tanner.

Note: Some people react negatively to microdermabrasion. As always, consult your dermatologist before changes in skin routines.

You ALWAYS want to exfoliate before bronzing. It is a must. If you don't, the bronzer will go on your skin unevenly. If you have dry patches the color in the bronzer will get soaked into the lines that makes dry skin and it will be patchy color.
